Collection and delivery by man and van
Many things you buy do not arrive by courier: bulky furniture, appliances and second-hand items. Instead of asking the seller to deliver, book a man and van to collect and deliver. The driver-operator picks the item up at a London address and brings it to your door, anywhere in England. Book the van by the hour, with a 2-hour minimum.
What people book us to collect
- Furniture and appliances bought on online marketplaces such as Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree or eBay
- Flat-pack and showroom purchases from furniture shops, including IKEA, that you collect yourself
- Items from a friend, family member, storage unit or another address of your own
- Single large items that will not fit in a car
Collection and delivery prices
| Van | Best for | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Small van | A few items — small office move or single item | £45/hr |
| Medium van | Small studio apartment (up to 1 bedroom) | £55/hr |
| Large van | 1–2 bedroom house move | £65/hr |
| Luton van | 2–3 bedroom house move | £75/hr |
All bookings have a 2-hour minimum. If the journey takes longer than the hours you selected, the extra time is added at the same hourly rate in half-hour steps — the booking form shows this before you pay.
Collecting from a private seller: tips
- Tell the seller a van is collecting and agree a time that matches your arrival window.
- Ask the seller to have the item ready, and to help carry if it is heavy.
- Look at the item before it is loaded. The driver cannot judge its condition or authenticity for you.
- Make sure you have the right to collect the item — you must be entitled to instruct the driver to move it.
- Measure the item and your doorways, and tell us about stairs, lifts and parking at both addresses.

Who does the move, and how you pay
NKVans is a booking, coordination and dispatch platform. The physical move is carried out by an independent driver-operator, who is responsible for the vehicle, the driving, loading and unloading and the care of your goods.
You pay a 30% NKVans Booking Fee online when you book (plus any ULEZ or Congestion Charge). The remaining 70% Driver Fee is paid directly to your driver. Please read the Customer Terms & Conditions and the Cancellation & Refund Policy before you book. Items we cannot carry are listed in the Terms.
Frequently asked questions
Can you collect an item from a private seller?
Yes. Collecting from a seller and delivering to you is a common man and van job. Put the seller’s address and the agreed collection time in the booking, and make sure the seller knows a van is coming. You must have the right to instruct the move.
Does the price include the item I am buying?
No. You pay NKVans a booking fee and your driver the driver fee for the van and driver only. You arrange payment for the item with the seller yourself.
What if the seller is late or the item is not ready?
Excessive waiting time can lead to additional charges (see section 7 of our Customer Terms & Conditions). Confirm the time with the seller before the driver arrives.
Can you collect from outside London?
Our jobs start in London and can be delivered anywhere in England. If your collection address is outside London, call or WhatsApp us on 07344 501595 first.
Can you do more than one collection?
Tell us in the booking notes about any additional collection or delivery stop. Extra stops can lead to additional charges, and we will tell you before they are incurred where reasonably practicable.
Can the driver help carry the item?
Yes. Choose driver help (+£25/hr) or driver help plus an extra helper (+£50/hr) in the booking form for heavy or bulky items.
